History of Mirpur university college

PRINCIPAL OF MIRPUR COLLEGE

Mirpur College is situated in the centre of Mirpur, Section-2, Dhaka adjacent to Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium and opposite of National Heart foundation. This college was primarily founded in 1970. Momtaj Uddin Ahmed, former executive of Dhaka Education Board was the founder principal. After Liberation period, distinguished social worker & Awami League leader Fakir Shafiruddin Ahmed requested Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to allot a  space at section-10 of Mirpur in an abandoned house and it was granted. The then vice principal Ishaque Hossain took over the charge as principal in 1979. The present campus was allotted in 1987 within the education zone primarily planned and designed by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, It was finally shifted in 1988. All the teachers, staffs and the students contributed their joint effort to build its new infrastructures. 
The institution was developing day-by-day but the strategical academic policies of sustainable excellence were variedly promoted by Md. Ghulam Wadud, the current principal after his taking the charge on 8th September 2013. It is mentioned here with respect that it was Mr. Aslamul Hoque, the Chairman of the Governing Body and honorable MP (Dhaka-14) provided his effort, support, guidance, inspiration & co-operation directly. At present, the college has become the pride of the inhabitants of Mirpur for its continuous effort to establish quality education and disciplined atmosphere.

The total number of students of this institution is almost 8000. The code number of this college code is 1001, EIIN-108206 for HSC level and 6457 for Honors & Degree (Pass) level. The students are fortunate who get opportunity to have themselves admitted and study in this institution because of the cordial guidance from intelligent and knowledgeable teachers and modern teaching techniques using information technology.

The college enrolls Higher Secondary, Degree (Pass) students every year in huge number in morning session. In day session, Mirpur college is conducting four years integrated Honours course & Masters course as well following the curriculum prescribed by National University. It provides honours course in Bangla, English, Social Work, Political Science, Economics, Accounting, Marketing, Management, Finance & Banking. It also provides Masters course in English, Accounting & Marketing. Moreover, the inauguration of the Masters course in  Bangla, Social Work, Political Science, Management, Finance & Banking is under process. The College runs BM course where lots of students from different districts get chance to complete their study.

The College also launch BBA Professional, Computer Science & Engineering (CSE) program (Honors course) with a view to building our students in accordance with the prevailing demand and developing quality human resource.
